Home » 2019 Recap – By the numbers!

Those of you who know, can attest that I am a numbers person. Numbers are black and white; they show performance; they show progress; they show impact. Let me share Jacobs Camp’s impact in 2019!

340 Generous Supporters

We are so grateful to our generous donors who supported the Jacobs Magic Fund in 2019! The Jacobs Magic Fund supports unforgettable programming, facility maintenance and improvements, and scholarships for families in need. Our community of givers helped fund 1 new Test Kitchen, 2 new dugouts, 3 new recycling centers, 5 industrial fans, a renovated art room porch, countless hours of Social Justice programming, and hundreds of families needing financial support able to attend camp!

$150,000 in scholarship

It is our belief that no child should miss out on a Jacobs Camp Experience for financial reasons. So, we put our money where our mouth is! Thanks to the Jacobs Magic Fund, we were able to support our community by awarding over $150,000 in scholarship to kids and families in need to attend Summer 2019! In fact, of our families who received financial assistance, over half came directly from Jacobs Camp.

457 Campers

We were so pleased to welcome 457 campers home to Jacobs Camp for Summer 2019! Our LARGEST Summer ever! New and returning campers alike experienced another incredible summer full of exciting programs, new friends, and Jewish Joy. The year round team traveled to each congregation in our region this year to make sure every Jewish child in the Deep South has the opportunity to experience the magic of Jacobs Camp!

Registration for Summer 2020 is still open. Don’t miss out!

50 Years of Jacobs Magic

When the founders of Henry S. Jacobs Camp broke ground, they envisioned a summer camp that would instill Jewish pride and continuity in the children of the region! Our 50th Anniversary Reunion November 1-3 in New Orleans proved that vision was alive and well when over 450 alumni and friends of camp gathered to reconnect with old friends and relive happy moments from their time at camp. All those in attendance witnessed the strength of Jacobs Camp since its founding 50 years before.

Check out how the 450 alumni and friends of camp celebrated 50 years of Jacobs Magic at the Reunion!

95%

At Jacobs Camp, we strive to create a Jewish Place at a Southern Pace, and the South means family. 95% of our families said our highest strength was creating a sense of home/family/community. Also, we ranked higher than the North American average of all Jewish camps in creating spiritual, cultural and religious life!

2020

I know… not technically a number for 2019… But we do have a lot to be excited for this year! Another amazing summer for Deep South Jewish kids, tons of year-round Jewish Joy during our recruitment visits, and the opportunity for our community to make the world a better place through your generous support!

Happy New Year!
