Kristin Newman – Summer Office Manager

Hi– I’m Kristin Yael Newman from Hammond, Louisiana (Lion Up!) and I am the 2023 Summer Office Administrator and the year round Capital Campaign Coordinator at Jacobs Camp! This is my third summer at camp and I am so excited to be back for another year of the Jacobs Magic. When I’m not working this summer, you can catch me hanging out near (but probably not in) the pool or getting creative in the art room. This spring, I spent 11 weeks in Israel and had the opportunity to volunteer on Purim by handing out mishloach manot to Lone Soldiers and Lone Bnot & Bnei Sherut in Tel Aviv. Outside of camp, I love to travel, collect vintage clothing and home goods, and play with my niece, Stella.

After working with campers for three summers, this year I will be the Staff Engagement Coordinator. Returning for my 11th straight year of summer camp, I am so thrilled to step into this new role and create a welcoming, friendly home for all staff and campers. As someone who moved around a lot as a kid and did not have very much stability, camp has always been somewhere I have felt safe and grounded. I strive to help others feel this same connection. I currently attend Bowdoin College in Maine as a dual Religion and Government Major. I run my school’s magazine and am heavily involved in the satire paper. Outside of camp, I volunteer every weekend at my local food bank, cleaning, sorting, and preparing food products.
