Please see the below message sent to all 2023 Jacobs Camp Families
Dear Jacobs Camp Families,
It’s been almost 10 days since the devastating attacks began in Israel. We are heartbroken and thinking about our Israeli Jacobs Camp staff, campers and alumni in these challenging times. We encourage you to add a message of support for our Jacobs Camp Community in Israel here.
In this very difficult time, I am reminded of how integral our community is in helping one another and I hope that we can all find comfort and strength in this connection. I want to share some words from one of our Israeli camp families with you today on this topic.
It is not easy to process everything going on, while simultaneously navigating this situation with our kids. I hope that if you’re feeling lonely, you will seek out community. If you’re feeling overwhelmed, that you will find a moment to breathe, or cry. If social media isn’t good for you right now, that you will step away. We must all take care of ourselves, so that we can have the strength to take care of one another.
I also want to share some resources to help talk with your children about what is happening:
- How to Talk To Kids About What is Happening In Israel Right Now
- Video – How To Talk to Children About Israel Today from the Jewish Education Project
- How to Talk To Children About the Violence in Israel and Gaza
- Handle with Care: Supporting Young People During Crises
- How to Talk to Kids and Teens About The Israel-Hamas War
- Blue Dove Foundation – Wellness Resources for the Situation in Israel
As always, please reach out to us if there is anything we can do to support your family.
Sending love and strength,
Anna and the Jacobs Camp team
