Embracing Jacobs Magic: A Journey of Generations and Love

by | Jun 12, 2024 | Jacobs Blog, Summer 2024, Youth & Family

I have spent all my adult life supporting the Jewish people at home and abroad. It has shaped my path and passions! I currently represent the wonderous  Weizmann Institute of Science in Israel.  Recently, I have often pondered the intricate relationship between nature and nurture and perhaps even the science of love. Is love merely a chemical reaction, or is it something more, a kind of HSJ Magic that transcends scientific explanation?

This reflection brings me to the heart of why I am writing this blog. This past Sunday marked my first time volunteering at Opening Day at Jacobs Camp with my adult children, Amy Goldstein Omessi and Lee Rabin Goldstein. It was a moment worthy of a Shehecheiyanu!

I am thrilled that all six of my grandchildren, my brother and sister in-law’s grandchildren, and many other family members will experience the magic of Jacobs Camp this summer. Jacobs has provided my family with a steadfast chain of connection. The heart and soul of the Jewish people, qualities my grandmother of blessed memory, who escaped Poland and raised her family in Bogalusa, Louisiana, passed down to me, have been instilled in my children and grandchildren through the love and magic of Jacobs Camp. The HSJ family profoundly influences our family, lifelong friends, and values.

Jacobs Camp has played an essential role in raising my children and grandchildren, nurturing them to have Jewish hearts and souls. I feel incredibly fortunate to witness and be part of this legacy.

L’dor V’dor: from Generation to Generation Hallelujah!
