Shabbat, Chalutzim, and MACCABIAH – A Full Week

by | Jun 28, 2024 | Friendships, Jacobs Blog, Summer, Summer 2024

Shabbat Shalom from Jacobs Camp!

It has been another amazing week, and we are treasuring every minute of our time together. On Sunday we welcomed 46 Chalutzim campers home and then kicked off the week with our first outdoor cookout of the summer followed by a spirited song session! To see more of the fun from this week, check out our week in review video!

The last two days have been an absolute blast with Maccabiah, our all-camp color war. With teams led by Velma, Shaggy, Fred and Daphne, campers worked together to solve the mystery of the Athletic Complex ghosts. After a series of fun competitions in events that include tug-of-war, relay races, original songs and more, the winner of this year’s Maccabiah is: Tzahov, the Yellow Team

If you’d like to hear more about what’s going at camp, don’t forget to check the latest episodes out our camp podcast, Camp Comments!

We were so sad to say goodbye to our Olim A+ campers this week! They enjoyed Messy Day, a talent show put on by their counselors, and a treasure hunt extravaganza before heading home to tell their families how much fun they had at camp! We can’t wait to see them back next summer!

This week in Garin, we started the week with a friendly game of capture the flag. Then campers showed off their amazing talents like baton twirling, ballet dancing and singing duets in their unit talent show!

Maskilim had their own Messy Night, and learned about Israel. Cabins 5&6 celebrated bunk night with a pizza and an epic Taylor Swift dance party!

In Talmidim, our campers enjoyed their own talent show with songs, gymnastics, magic tricks and more! The boys cabins swam in the lake for bunk night, and roasted hot dogs over an open fire. The whole unit had a blast together with Talmidim Messy Night!

We are so happy that our Chalutzimers are here! Their summer is off to an amazing start, beginning with an Opening Night pool party. They have spent time bonding as a unit, and are enjoying the privilege of the Sababa.

Solelim enjoyed a bonfire with s’mores, and have been doing an amazing job bonding with their assigned camper cabins. They are also busy preparing for our upcoming AmericaFest!

Wishing you all a peaceful Shabbat!

Anna
