Time Really Does Fly : Week Two at Jacobs Camp

Shabbat Shalom from Jacobs Camp!
We’ve had another amazing week together! The session is flying by, and we are having a blast! You can see what we’ve been up to in our Week 2 in Review video.
Now we are preparing for a delicious family-style Shabbat dinner of BBQ brisket, noodle kugel, carrots, challah and apple cobbler! After dinner, we’ll have song session, services in the chapel and Israeli dancing.
Before Shabbat begins, we are having an all-camp MTV dance competition! Each cabin choreographed a dance that they will perform in front of the whole camp. In true Jacobs Camp spirit, this is an event full of positive energy and fun!
This week we enjoyed our first camp cookout. Although the rain didn’t allow us to do it outside, campers had the opportunity to mingle and sit wherever they wanted in the dining hall, and there was lots of singing (mostly songs from Hamilton!). The rain wasn’t all bad, as we got a beautiful rainbow that evening!
Here is a little peek into what each unit has been up to this week:
Olim Our Olim campers are having the best time swimming in the pool and lake when they can. They have been enjoying board games, the art room and sports! They have so much spirit and love that every lunch they love starting their unit cheer, “Olim is in the house!”. They had Messy Afternoon in place of the usual Messy Night, and had their unit talent show. We saw so many fun talent show acts!
Garin Garin campers have had a blast this week practicing yoga, fishing, biking, and sports! Many of them have also been enjoying group board games, bracelet making, and reading. Everybody loves cooling off in the pool and lake, and they particularly LOVE the lake toys! Garin had an epic Messy Night, and a unit campfire!
Maskilim In Maskilim this week campers had a blast in their Specialty Camps including Performing Arts, Adventure, Sports, Aquatics and Visual Arts. They had lots of swimming time in the pool and lake. In the evenings they’ve had their bunk nights, a movie night, and a jewish leaning evening program!
Talmidim Talmidim has really been enjoying their role as the oldest campers (for now!). They had lots of time to explore their specialty camps, and experienced a range of cabin activities including Art, Sports, Songleading, Film, Basketball, and Cooking. In the evenings they’ve had a sports program, a pool party, and their messy night!
Solelim We are so proud of our Solelimers! They are learning how to be amazing staff members, and have planned and run evening programs for all of the other units. When they aren’t shadowing the operations crew, unit staff, and other departments around camp, they love hanging out on the porch of the Bayit with their amazing lake view!
We are looking forward to a relaxing Shabbat tomorrow full of fun and complete with Shaboptional Breakfast for our early risers!
Shabbat Shalom!
Anna Herman
