The Passion of MTV Night

Have you ever lived with 15 other people for two weeks? Now try choreographing a dance in two days with them and competing against 22 other cabins. The pressure is on!

Conflict certainly arises while working as a cabin to pick a song, costume, and choreograph but this is the conflict we want! We want campers to learn how to disagree, how to compromise, how to collaborate, and that when we come together we can make something incredible.

On Thursday and Friday all around camp you could find cabins practicing their dances. They would add on an eight count, rework the intro, and ask their counselors for feedback. Some cabins even asked if they could practice during pool and chofesh. All campers participated in MTV night in some way. They contributed their ideas, voted on the song, and cheered on cabinmates.

When it came time to perform on Friday afternoon, the JPAC was buzzing with excitement. Campers came dressed to impress and sat together as cabins. As each cabin came to the stage, the counselors would head to the back of the room and turn into full on “dance moms.” Both campers and counselors had huge smiles on their faces.

It can be scary to perform a dance in front of 300 people! Jacobs Camp is the perfect place to do it. After each cabin performed the audience erupted into applause. You could hear campers coming off the stage saying “that was so fun” or “my first dance!” We applaud all of our campers for their bravery and courage!

Congrats to Cabin 16 the winners of Session 2 MTV Night 2025. We love this new traditions.

Ps If you didn’t want to watch all 45 minutes (we don’t understand why!)-the cabins performed in numerical order. Cabins A, B, and N are the last three to perform.
