A New Kind of Leadership is Emerging at Jacobs Camp

I have been deeply inspired by the generosity of camper alumni, former staff members, and supporters who may not have historically seen themselves as major donors, yet are stepping forward in meaningful ways to invest in Jacobs Camp’s future. Their commitment reflects a profound sense of connection to this place and a shared belief in what Jacobs Camp represents.
To date, these young supporters, some in their 30s and 40s, have contributed 30% of the campaign’s gifts, raising more than $2.8 million toward our $18 million goal. This level of participation is remarkable on its own, but the breadth of generosity is equally powerful. Within this group are nine gifts of $100,000 or more, including three gifts of $250,000 and above. At the same time, gifts under $100,000 have collectively exceeded $800,000, demonstrating the power of many people choosing to give in ways that feel right for them.
For many, participating in a capital campaign at this level is a new experience. They are making a generous choice to prioritize Jacobs Camp’s future because of the impact it has had on their lives. Every gift is a personal, meaningful commitment to the camp’s continued success.
This campaign is about more than improving facilities. To ensure the vibrancy of Jewish life for generations to come, we must pass on our cherished values, rituals, traditions, and history to the next generation of leaders. Now is the time to secure our home for the youth of our community and beyond.
If Jacobs Camp has shaped your life in any way—as a camper, staff member, parent, or supporter—there is a place for you in this campaign. Seeing so many alumni and community members step into leadership at this moment gives me great confidence in the strength and sustainability of Jacobs Camp for generations to come.
Together, we can secure the future of Jacobs Camp and Jewish life in the Deep South.
