The Michael and Betsy Levy Scholarship: Bringing Jacobs Magic to Bossier City & Shreveport

A Gift of Community, Connection, and Jewish Joy

Growing up Jewish in Shreveport and Bossier City often means being part of a small community with few Jewish peers. Unlike larger cities, children here may not have regular opportunities to engage in Jewish traditions with friends their age. Henry S. Jacobs Camp fills this gap, giving them a space to celebrate their heritage, build confidence in their Jewish identity, and create lifelong connections.

The Michael and Betsy Levy Scholarship ensures that financial barriers never stand in the way of Jewish children in Shreveport and Bossier City experiencing the magic of Jacobs Camp.

About Michael and Betsy Levy

For Michael, this mission is personal. A Shreveport native, he attended Jacobs Camp on a scholarship, an experience that shaped his Jewish identity and sense of belonging. Now, he and his wife, Betsy, are giving back to ensure today’s children have the same life-changing opportunity.

The Impact of the Scholarship

For many children, Jacobs Camp is their first and only opportunity to be surrounded by a large Jewish community—celebrating Shabbat at the chapel, singing camp songs, and forming lasting bonds. The Michael and Betsy Levy Scholarship removes financial barriers so that every child, regardless of their family’s situation, can be part of this incredible experience.
