Jacobs Camp is excited to introduce the Creative Residency Program as we try to bring in big thinkers, chefs, designers, artists, musicians, writers, and creatives who are hoping to make the world a better place through their self-expression. Hosting a creative resident at summer camp enables a distinct opportunity for exchange between the resident and campers where a myriad of partnerships and projects are possible.
Creative residents receive a fully subsidized stay including 3 meals a day in exchange for giving back to our unique community. All residents commit to give back to the community, but exactly how that gift transpires is up to each creative resident and approved by Jacobs Camp staff.
Responsibilities
Creative Residents are responsible for planning two chugim. Chugim are 50 minute activity periods that run consecutively for either 3 or 4 days. One Chugim lesson will be for campers in 3th through 6th grade and another for campers in 8th through 10th grade. Our youngest campers in 1st and 2nd grade would also love the opportunity to to work with you during a one time 50 minute Cabin Hour activity period. We ask that each resident commits to one additional coverage time whether this be during rest hour or nighttime to give our counselors their own time to be creative.
When not teaching, Creative Residents are encouraged to create in the art room, Technion, swim in the pool, hike on the trails, boat on the lake, create new recipes in the Test Kitchen and join our evening programs. Check out more of our activities here.
