Happy New Year, y’all, and many thanks for your generous year-end contributions to the Jacobs Magic Fund. Your support, totaling $80,428, ensures that in 2018, Jacobs Camp will be able to enhance our facilities, enrich our programming, and provide scholarship support to more families than ever before. Most of all, it means that life changing camp experiences will continue to be available to campers and families from the Deep South Jewish community.

We love talking to our campers throughout the year to hear about what we can do to improve camp and make sure it’s always the best it can be. We heard you and we listened. This summer, we’ll be adding volleyball, as well as even more to our STEAM program. And, we will have the very first Jacobs Camp Makers Space! Oh, and don’t be surprised if you see a new addition on the lake obstacle course!

Another part of having the best camp is having terrific staff – and we are always looking for superstars to join our team. If you know someone who can help us create Jacobs Magic this summer, send them to this page on our website to learn more.

We’ve also been visiting congregations and communities throughout the region during the last few months, seeing campers and families we know, and meeting new ones along the way. Besides sharing the magic of camp wherever we go, it’s been really wonderful to deepen our existing connections and to meet new people from Alabama, Arkansas, and Louisiana to Mississippi, parts of Tennessee, and the Florida Panhandle.

Because building and nurturing relationships is such an important part of the camp experience, it’s something I’m planning to focus on a lot this year. In fact, relationship-building – and getting to know all of you – is one of my main goals for 2018.

So, please reach out to say hi. My email is aherman@urj.org — or you can call me at 601-885-6042. I would love to hear from you.

In the meantime, keep your eyes peeled for a new way to show your Jacobs Pride.  You may have seen pictures of the Limited Edition rainbow shirts we gave our staff and Chalutzim campers this summer.  Those shirts were a culmination of some important programming for our oldest campers and a celebration of the diversity of our camp family.  The clamoring from many of  you who also want those shirts has been heard.  Our “pop up store” will open shortly and you’ll have a month or so to order your very own Jacobs Camp Rainbow shirt.  We hope the price of $36/shirt will give you a chance to rep Jacobs Camp with pride and make a modest contribution at the same time!

Thank you again for all the ways you help to create the Jacobs Magic. I’m grateful for your support and I look forward to welcoming y’all home this summer!

Love,

Anna
