What’s Happening in the Off Season?
Although Opening Day is still months away, there’s lots going on behind the scenes to ensure that 2019 will be The. Best. Summer. Ever.
I Didn’t Want to Come to Camp
I didn’t want to come to camp. From the outside looking in, it seemed like a faraway place endorsed by my rabbi that took my sister away from me. I came to camp kicking and screaming hoping my parents wouldn’t make me come. Now here I am, a month after my fifth and final year of camp. Looking back on the amazing memories gone by, I think about how wrong that Maskilimer was.
OUR Camp
This is my family: 6 Jacobs Camp Couples; 11 former Jacobs campers; 17 past or current Jacobs Camp staff members (including 4 assistant directors); 1 Summer 2019 OLIM CAMPER and more FUTURE JACOBS CAMPERS than I can imagine.
We at Jacobs Camp are Richly Blessed…
Mah tov chelkeinu u’mah na’im goraleinu! From the words of our prayer book: “How good is our portion and how beautiful our fortune!”
Have You Ever Doodled a Circle…?
Have you ever doodled a circle and had that satisfying feeling of completion when the end reaches the beginning and you lift your pencil to find that the free hand circle you just drew is nearly perfect? That is exactly what Jacobs Camp Shabbat at Temple Sinai the last few years has felt like to me.
L’dor Vador From 1982 to 2018
For eleven summers, I have always called 3863 Morrison Road my home away from home. I have made countless friendships and memories that are still strong to this day. Like many campers, I am a second generation Jacobs camper, with both of my parents spending time at Jacobs Camp. This ultimately led to their meeting and eventual marriage in 1997.
Countdown to Opening Day and the Best Summer Ever!
Even though it feels like we’ve barely closed the gates after an incredible summer, I’m writing with exciting news about Summer 2019! Next summer will mark our 50th year, which we plan to commemorate in special ways every day.

Why Jacobs Camp in 2018 is Crucial
It’s hard to find something to say about HSJ that hasn’t already been said. For every camper who walks through the gates, Jacobs is a place of comfort: somewhere they can grow, play, learn, and exist without fear or judgement.
Letter from Anna (July 27, 2018)
I can’t believe the best summer ever is winding down, but this week at camp had so many great highlights that we’ll remember for a long time to come! Incredible fun, outstanding adventure, and terrific activities filled the days; talent shows, bonfires for s’mores, and bunk nights fill the evenings – and everyone is having a genuinely good time being together as a community in our special summer home!
