• More Than Just a Summer Home

I’ve spent almost my whole life at Henry S. Jacobs Camp, first starting in 2002 as an Olim camper where I had Anna B. Herman as my Olim Unit Head. I went all the way to Chalutzim in 2011. I always knew that I wanted to give back to the community, so in 2014, I applied to be a counselor.

This week has been packed with fun; so much has happened that it’s hard to believe it has only been a week! Every day, our family continues to grow stronger, and we are trying not to think about how there are only a few days of camp left.

  • Humans of Jacobs Camp

This summer is my first summer on staff, and I’m a Gesher. I choose to come back every year because I can’t imagine my summers without Jacobs. My siblings are here and we just have this amazing environment to grow, learn, and experience new things together. During song sessions, I like to look around the room and notice that everyone is involved.

  • What Jacobs Camp Means to Me

In the beginning of June last year, I came to Jacobs camp for the first time. I was scared out of my mind to come to the middle of nowhere Mississippi for two months where I didn’t know anyone and didn’t know what my job would really be like.

Time is truly flying by, but the Jacobs Magic is still flowing! I can see friendships forming and memories being made.

  • An Olimer for Life

As a third grader, my mom and dad drove me into the gate of Jacobs Camp for the first time, and I was worried about all the things one would expect. Who would be my bunkmate? Who would be my counselors? Would I miss my parents? Would I even like camp?

Shabbat Letter From Anna (June 16, 2017)

It is hard to believe that we’ve already been at camp for almost a full week! After a year of recruitment and planning, it is incredible to me that the BIGGEST SUMMER EVER is already underway!  In just one week, I’ve seen so many friendships, new and old, that remind me of how special these three and a half weeks at camp actually are and how Jacobs is so much more than just camp, it is family and it is home.

  • Taking Care of the World Around Us

Imagine a long day of being in nature, maybe taking a swim in the lake or going for a mountain bike ride. A tent is set up near a roaring campfire and s’mores are about to get made. What could be better?
