Spring Kallah and My NFTY-So Journey

Back in 2018, as a wide-eyed kid in 6th grade, I dipped my toes into the world of NFTY at a cool event called JYG. But when I hit the right age for NFTY events, something called COVID showed up, turning everything virtual. Finally, in March of 2022, we returned to...

Southern & Jewish, the ISJL’s Regional Conference

Jacobs Camp is truly a home-away-from home for me. I spent sixteen amazing summers in Utica! My first summer there, I was eight years old. I didn’t miss a single summer at camp (until I went on a NFTY-Israel trip) and then returned to serve as counselor, unit head,...

Culture of Generosity – Thank You!

In Summer 2023, Jacobs Camp awarded $180,000 in financial assistance to our families. We saw record enrollment numbers with over 600 campers and staff, yet we were still able to maintain our commitment that financial need will never prevent any family from sending...

The Magic of Jacobs Camp: From the perspective of a first time staff member

I arrived at camp during the morning on May 31, 2018. That first day was a blur, but I remember the end of it vividly.

I was working in the office until around 10:30pm. As I walked outside, I heard the familiar and comforting “amein” of the shehecheyanu. I turned to my right and saw Mason Greenberg and Charlie Cox in colorful adirondack chairs on the porch, strumming guitars, and practicing the shehecheyanu – the Jewish prayer that celebrates something happening for the first time.

Letter from Anna (June 22, 2018)

It’s been an exciting and amazing week at camp, and I can’t believe how quickly the days fly by. Our Olim campers have headed home and we miss them. Their absence reminds us, especially with all that goes on in our world these days, how important it is for us to treasure each moment we’re together as a community in this sacred place.

Talmidim camper Chloe Deitelzweig’s beautiful words on tevunah resonated with the Jacobs Camp family; and we are pleased to share them with you.

A Message from Anna: April 2018

A Message from Anna: April 2018

Thanks to all of you who reached out after my last blog post during the winter. It was wonderful to hear from people I already know and to connect with lots of others I haven’t yet met – especially during the seasons when we don’t have many chances to be together in person. I appreciate the time you took to be in touch, the newsy updates you shared, and the chance to nurture our relationships, whether they’re decades old or fairly new!
